Últimamente hemos oído hablar mucho sobre estos dos conceptos, y es que a veces no nos queda clara la diferencia entre ambos y tendemos a confundir la fecha de caducidad con el consumo preferente.

Para no tirar comida porque sí, ni poner en riesgo la salud de alguien de la familia, es importante conocer la diferencia entre ambos conceptos y empezar a utilizarlos correctamente:

  1. Fecha de caducidad: fecha límite en la que el producto puede consumirse sin ningún problema. Superada esta fecha puede causarnos daño a la salud y su consumo deja de ser seguro.
    2. \n
  2. Fecha de consumo preferente: fecha límite en la que el producto deja de tener al 100% sus propiedades organolépticas (olor, textura y sabor), pero cuyo consumo no supone un riesgo para la salud.

A partir de ahora, la fecha de caducidad va a desaparecer en alguno productos como el yogur, así se evitará el desperdicio de comida. Ya que un yogur, por regla tenía una fecha de caducidad de 28 días, pero realmente su consumo puede hacerse hasta los 35 sin sufrir ningún riesgo.

Por eso no pasa nada si comemos, o los peques comen un yogur después de la fecha de consumo preferente. Eso sí, antes de consumirlo debemos usar el sentido común, si el yogur tiene un olor o aspecto raro, será mejor tirarlo.
